The design for Lenora, a ‘neighborhood taco bar’ in the hear of Portland’s Old Port, was inspired by a unique muted palette of materials reminiscent of the places that inspire its cuisine creating a variety of tones and textures throughout the space that respond to the generous amount of natural light and changing conditions throughout the day into the evening and night.

The floorplan for the space puts the bar at the center of all of the activity and was designed to accommodate flexibility throughout the day allowing for breakfast, lunch and dinner services to transform how the space is functionally and optimally used by baristas, bartenders and other staff based on service needs. In addition to a generous amount of bar seating the design utilizes the outside wall to create flexible banquettes in addition to a ‘chef’s table’ that looks across the bar for a more intimate dining experience.
