Owner
Born and raised in Portland, Maine, Rob grew up learning the building trade. He also spent many years working on the water for the Casco Bay Lines where he earned his Captain's License. After getting his degree in construction management from USM Rob rose through the ranks to manage a commercial division of one the of the State's largest construction companies. Rob started Barrett Made to work one on one with clients and provide them with a uniquely personal and pleasant building experience. When he's not on the job site Rob enjoys building in his workshop in Cape Elizabeth and spending time with his wife, Sydney and their three young sons.
Project Manager
At a young age Bruce was drawn to carpentry and building, attending advanced woodworking classes during high school. Bruce continued to gain experience in the construction industry by working with local contractors as a carpenter and foreman. Bruce even ran his own business doing roofing, siding and light construction work. Before coming to Barrett Made, Bruce worked for one of the state's largest construction companies where he started out as a carpenter and rose to Project Manager. Bruce's vast experience, natural carpentry skills and ease with communication makes him a great fit for Barrett Made. Bruce is from New Gloucester, Maine where he still resides with his wife, Alexis and their two children.

Project Manager
Christian began his professional career in the construction industry right after graduating from Old Dominion University. His first experience in construction was working as a carpenters helper part time in his home state of NJ. He continued to learn and developed his craft over the years, quickly working his way into the position of foreman and then later on into the role as a project manager. Christian has a great appreciation for the numerous facets and details that go into bringing a project together. Working with highly skilled and passionate tradesmen is one of the aspects of the job he enjoys most. The challenging and diverse environment of construction is another reason he continues to have the passion for each new project. His mission for every project is to provide an atmosphere around the build that gives the client the confidence and support to express their desires and concerns so that the final product truly exceeds their expectations.
Director of Design Services
Prior to joining the Barrett Made team Matthew served as project manager for one of the most awarded and well respected architecture firms in Maine. He has served as a project designer/architect for several AIA and Maine Preservation award winning projects in New York, and greater New England. Matthew proudly serves on the Town of North Yarmouth’s Economic and Sustainability Committee and holds a degree manga cum laude from the Syracuse University School of Architecture. Matthew sees design as a strategy for action, focusing on results that exceed client expectations. Outside the office Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife, Chloe and two sons.
Carpenter
Brian was born and raised in Auburn, Maine. He graduated from Southern Connecticut State University with a degree in athletic training, but it wasn't until he started working as a builders apprentice that he felt like he had found the right career path. The skills of the trade have come naturally to Brian, much like his grandfather before him who was a farmer and an avid builder. A relative new comer to construction, Brian brings enthusiasm and tenacity to Barrett Made. When he's not assisting on the job site Brian enjoys being outdoors and spending time with his wife Sarah and their dog Dill.
Carpenter
Scott's background is in music, having received his BA in Audio Engineering from NESCom. He has had a lifelong love for working with his hands, which working as an apprentice for Barrett Made has helped him refine. Scott grew up in Maine, and now resides in Saco, in an 1870 antique house with his girlfriend Shelby, where he gets to put his carpentry skills to good use.
Operations Manager
A southener by birth, Dee Dee moved to Maine in 2001. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Dee Dee comes to Barrett Made with a diverse work history including motorcycle sales, house painting, carpentry, hotel management, beer brewing, international shipping logistics, and let’s not forget cab driver. As a natural tinkerer, fixing things and working on houses is a lifelong passion. Dee Dee serves on the boards of Creative Portland and Cultivating Community. In her free time she enjoys buying and selling antiques, working on her 1925 South Portland bungalow, obsessing over Lois Dodd paintings and spending time with her partner and two tiny dogs.
Project Designer
With dual citizenship between the US and UK, Dylan had the unique opportunity to get an international education in architecture. He lived in Oxford, England for four years and traveled extensively throughout Europe. After obtaining his Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from The Oxford School of Architecture, Dylan returned to his home town of Portland, Maine to pursue a career in design. Before landing at Barrett Made, he worked for multiple award winning firms gaining experience in interior design, residential and commercial architecture.
Foreman
Rick wanted to be a carpenter since he was a young boy after watching a carpenter performing work at his home. He was so fascinated he was determined to be a carpenter someday. Rick has 25 years of extensive experience in carpentry and in-depth knowledge of the entire construction process. Rick worked for the City of Portland for the past 8 years as a Maintenance Supervisor and completed several municipal construction projects. However, building trades is where his heart is and Rick is happy to return to the field.
Project Designer
Upon completion of her Masters, Alyssa began her career working for Hutker Architects on Cape Cod, specializing in custom high end residential. After moving to Maine in 2011, Alyssa built a small “off the grid” timber frame cabin, exploring construction techniques and resources. In 2014, she relocated to Portland to join the sustainably focused team at Briburn. Two years later, she is very pleased to join the Design+Build team at Barrett Made. She currently sits on the board of Architalx and is the V.P. of Portland Society for Architecture. She is passionate about interior and exterior architectural design, as well as exploring the relationship between spaces and its users. Aside from designing, Alyssa enjoys spending her time outdoors, skiing the mountains and sailing the coast.
Carpenter
Aaron grew up in mid-coast Maine where he learned carpentry and woodworking while building boats and houses with his Dad. After college Aaron worked in Europe for 16 years, eventually opening and managing a toy shop in Bratislava, Slovakia. He moved home in 2015 to marry the woman of his dreams and now divides his free time between a small boat on Merrymeeting Bay and improving the 1923 American Foursquare home where he lives with his wife, dog and three cats.
Lead Carpenter
Although born in upstate New York, Eric has lived in Maine since he was seven years old. He started in the trades at the age of seventeen and quickly took to carpentry. He served the country as an Airborne Combat Medic, and continues to serve in the Maine Army National Guard as a medic. Eric has a young family consisting of two boys; Lincoln and Landen, and his beautiful fiancé Aimee. They reside on a small farm on the outskirts of Freeport.
Apprentice Carpenter
Hobson comes to Barrett Made from a previous career in software. He grew up in Falmouth, Maine and after 8 years of living in Boston, moved back to the Portland area in 2015. Most of his free time is spent renovating his 1800's cape in Freeport. When not knee deep in plaster dust, he tries to get outdoors to hike and ski as much as possible.
Lead Carpenter
Whip came to Maine from sunny southern California where, among other things, he ran his own millwork/carpentry shop. Whip knew from a young age that he had a talent for using his hands when he got all A's in Mr. Drexel's shop class. Eventually, he began building sets for movies and tv shows, occasionally finding his way on to the screen. In his free time, Whip enjoys spending time reading, making bad puns and hanging out with his family.
Carpenter
Jared was born and raised in Jay, Maine where he fell in love with outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, hunting, and just enjoying nature. An interest in carpentry began at an early age from assisting his brother who is a carpenter. After graduating from UMaine with a degree in Business Management, Jared began working in the construction industry. He currently resides in Saco, ME with his girlfriend and spends his spare time playing guitar, riding his motorcycle, kayaking and spending time with friends and family.
Assistant Project Manager
Nate hails from South Berwick ME where he grew up as the son of an electrician and learned the trades from a young age. He went to school at USM and got a degree in Information Technology Management with a concentration in Construction Management and a minor in Business Administration. After school, Nate worked for Tilson Technology Management as an Engineer and a Construction Manager. He was put into leadership at a young age and loves working as a team to solve complex problems and construct awesome spaces. In his free time he likes to hike, hunt, fish, play hockey and spend time with his girlfriend and their puppy.
Apprentice Carpenter
A New Hampshire native, Ethan’s background is in psychology and outdoor education. After college, he guided wilderness trips for an outdoor therapy program and taught skiing in Colorado. Just before coming to Barrett Made, Ethan worked for a small company specializing in kitchen and bathroom remodels. Ethan and his wife, Jenn spend their time chasing after their toddler Lila and their Vizsla, Bence, updating their 1914 colonial, and getting out in the woods as much as possible.
Lead Carpenter
Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Marc first moved to midcoast Maine in 2005, working seasonally in the field of environmental education. It was during this time, after having spent a winter working in a wooden boat shop, that his interest in woodworking and carpentry began to develop. In 2008, he decided to make Maine his permanent home and moved to Portland, further pursuing his career as a carpenter. In addition to working on houses, Marc enjoys making furniture; his most recent project being a crib for his newborn daughter, Nina. And if you tune in on the right night, you just might catch Marc (aka Don Gato) hosting a funk/disco/boogie show on the local radio station, WMPG
Project Manager
Born and raised in Poland, Maine, Codie is a natural working with his hands from time in his father’s paint/fab shop & his grandfather’s HVAC company. Codie attended WPI where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Construction Management. After 3+ years in Boston working for one of the nation’s largest Construction Management Firms, Codie decided it was time to move back to Maine to start a family. After spending several years working for one of Maine’s largest Construction firms as a Superintendent, he recently decided it was time to refine his craft to smaller, more detail-oriented projects which is exactly what drew him to Barrett Made. When not working, Codie enjoys spending time with his Wife Amanda, son Cooper, and two dogs. Codie is an avid outdoorsman and spends most of his free time in the woods or on the water.
Carpenter
Brian joined Barrett Made after relocating from Massachusetts. After receiving a degree in mechanical engineering he followed his passion for woodworking by opening and operating his custom furniture shop for a decade. As an Designer and Maker Brian has the unique ability to blend good design with quality craftsmanship. When not working you can find him exploring the outdoors by canoe or motorcycle.
Office and Contracts Manager
Originally from Massachusetts, Susie has lived all over the country from Alaska to California to Utah to Ohio to New Hampshire to Vermont to Maine. She holds a degree magna cum laude from Clemson University, with a BA in Social Work and Spanish. With her travels, Susie has worked in many diverse roles, from floral design to sales administration to retail store operations, which is how she first met the Barrett Made team. She loves spending time exploring and adventuring with her family - Tad, Ty and Ava. On her own, she loves to run, hike, read, explore and hit the beach! Her focus is on seeing the good, smiling often, working hard and being around the people that make us laugh and raise our bar - so here at Barrett Made she is.
